Brigadier General Seth Cederman Assumes Command of CJTF-HOA

Operation Cashman is a Joint Task Force Combined in the Horn of Africa.

Brigadier General Seth Cederman took command of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) during a change of command ceremony at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, on June 30, 2023.

Cederman assumed command from Brigadier General William Zana, who had led CJTF-HOA since June 2021.

In his remarks, Cederman thanked Zana for his leadership and service, and said he was honored to take command of CJTF-HOA.

"I am committed to continuing the great work that has been done here," Cederman said. "We will continue to work with our partners to promote stability and security in the Horn of Africa."

CJTF-HOA is a multinational task force that conducts operations in the Horn of Africa to prevent conflict, protect U.S. interests, and support partner nations.

The task force is headquartered in Djibouti and includes personnel from the United States, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Cederman is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1995 and has served in various leadership positions in the Army, including as the commander of the 1st Infantry Division.
