Former Minneapolis Police Officer Sentenced for Civil Rights Violations
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced in a federal court Thursday to 21 years in prison. The sentencing comes more than a year after Chauvin was convicted of murdering George Floyd, a Black man, by kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes.
The Justice Department announced today that former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin 46 was. Chauvin was found guilty on three charges.
