Qualifying Window Open for 2024 Boston Marathon
Registrations Begin September 2022
The qualifying window for the 128th Boston Marathon, scheduled for April 15, 2024, is officially open. Runners who meet the qualifying standards have until the conclusion of the qualifying window to submit their applications.
Qualifying Standards and Application Process
To qualify for the Boston Marathon, runners must achieve a qualifying time in one of the following race categories: open, wheelchair, para-athlete, or adaptive athlete. Qualifying times vary depending on age and gender. Runners can find the complete list of qualifying times on the Boston Athletic Association's website.
The application process for the 2024 Boston Marathon will open on September 20, 2022. Runners must submit their applications through the BAA's online portal. The application fee is $25 for US residents and $35 for international applicants.
Recent Boston Marathon Winners
The 2023 Boston Marathon was won by Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia in the men's race and Hellen Obiri of Kenya in the women's race. Both runners set course records, with Lemma finishing in 2:04:59 and Obiri in 2:25:22.
The 2024 race is expected to be highly competitive, as many elite runners are aiming to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris.
